My senior year in English, I had an opportunity to do reading groups and The Secret Life of Bees was one of our options. However, I didn't take this opportunity to read it, figuring I would read it later. I've seen the movie with Dakota Fanning, Queen Latifah, and Alicia Keys. That was absolutely fantastic. But, the book is ten times better!!!!!! Sue Monk Kidd nailed this novel. The writing: SUPERB!!!! Characterization: Fantastic! The Plot: Even better!!! Words cannot describe how much I enjoyed this book. It is definitely a new favorite of mine!
So,
What shall I read next?

Along For the Ride and Knit Two
New Sarah Dessen book! I have read all of her books (except Lock and Key. When did I miss it? lol). I was walking through Borders, which has been changed completely. The music section has been whacked down into one shelf. ONE SHELF! Now I am a huge Borders fan and frequently buy music in there to support them in their music selling. And now I am forced to buy my music at other store where I find it not as nearly satisfying to buy music from. The young adults section has moved and now I can't find and of the art of fashion books!! Its insane!
So off topic :)
Well, on a Sunday, after Church, I was in border with my sister who was ogling over the Twilight books when I came upon Along for the Ride and I screamed inside, "I have to have this!" So, naturally I bought it and read it in a day. All in all, it was a good book. I like the issue that Dessen presented in her novel. All of her books have the common theme of being a sort of coming of age story, which is awesome because she is so great at them. My fall up with her as a writer though is that the plot kind of get old. She tends to keep to the plot. Girl has problem. Girl finds boy. Girl and boy like each other. Girl and Boy help each other grow. Girl and boy get in fight. Girl and boy get together in the end.
However, the book is good. Its a good grab to take to the beach and read. Heck, its just a good read! :)
And now.........Knit Two!!!!!!!!
Kate Jacobs, I love you! I read the first book about six months ago and it made me want to knit. I'm in the process of making a scarf right now actually! The story is beautiful however tragic it may be, and I would strongly recommend that you read the first book before you tackle the second. This is one of those books that is hard to pick up on if you don't know the story from the first book.
In all honestly, I liked the second book a lot better than the first one. The story line was great. The writing beautiful. The characters were glowing and so full of life! Spectacular! Loved it! Read it!
My next book is call Let Me Eat Cake and I should be blogging about this soon.
Until next time..............

Forever
The first book that I read for this blog was surprisingly not an Austen book (although I am currently working my way through P&P). Forever, by Judy Blume was a novel published in 1975 and is considered to be controversial due to its issues on sexuality and "the pill."
What I found most endearing about this book was, in fact, its openness about sexuality because every teenager can agree that sex is something that they think about. The fact of whether you agree with sex before marriage or not should not determine your conclusion to reading this book. In fact I found this book helpful because it was realistic and portrayed what can happen when your are in a sexual relationship. All in all a good read
Rating on a scale of 1 to 5? A good solid 4.

Introduction
"The people, whether it be gentlemen or ladies, who have not pleasure in a good novel, must be intolerably stupid." Therefore, in the words of Jane Austen herself, I shall read great books and explicate my thoughts on it whether it be fan fiction or Persuasion (ahhh Anne Elliot!). Therefore, prepare yourself bloggies as we begin the journey of a women endeavour to read. :)
